TRE stands for Tension and Trauma Release Exercises.  It is a way for us to tap into a natural, safe and effective healing mechanism within our bodies - our neurogenic tremoring response.  By purposely engaging this inbuilt regulation system, it helps us to release tension from our bodies and nervous systems - returning us to a state of balance and wellbeing - both physically and emotionally.

About Anna

Anna has worked as a counsellor for over ten years.  During this time, she has noticed that many of her clients seemed to get to a "stuck point" in their healing journeys.  It was as as though they had come so far, then hit a road block.  She wanted to find a way to support her clients to move through this impasse, so that they could move forward towards the life of ease and happiness they deserved.  This prompted her to delve further into trauma and the impacts on our bodies, and through this she became interested in more somatic and holistic approaches for treatment.  She trained further in Somatic Mindfulness, and was thrilled to see the positive responses in the people that she works with.  However, she still felt there was something more... her clients were often suffering physical symptoms, that she intuitively knew were related to their experiences.  When she discovered TRE, it's as if all these pieces suddenly fitted together and she's very excited to share this natural, body-based technique with her clients, 

Move On has been established as Anna also wanted to share TRE with the community, so that everyone can access this technique, to support everyday health and wellbeing.

Services

Initial Introduction Session

Our Initial Introduction Sessions are designed to introduce you to TRE. 

You will learn more about it, and how to ensure you practice it in a safe and effective way.  We will discuss your needs, concerns and issues, as well as doing a health check to make sure TRE is suitable for you.  We will then go through the lead in exercises, and you will be able to experience your first TRE tremoring session. 

Afterwards, there will be time for a debrief and to discuss recommendations for ongoing use.

Short Facilitated Session

These sessions are for people who have had several full sessions, and are practicing alone, but would like the extra support of a TRE Provider.

Anna can offer facilitation and/or support, to continue deepening your practice and encouraging more movement.

Sometimes our bodies get stuck in certain tension, holding and tremoring patterns.  Facilitation can help us Move On from this.

( 40 minutes - $90 )

Standard Facilitated Session

These sessions are for people who have tried TRE before, and need to, or would like to, gain more experience before practicing alone, or if they would like to deepen their experience and have extra support to access deeper tremoring and healing.

Depending on your individual needs, we may go through the lead in exercises, or we may just have a chat about what's been coming up for you. 

Either way, you will have a full tremoring session, of up to half an hour, with facilitation and support.

Counselling Session

Sometimes, it may be helpful to engage in therapy alongside your TRE practice.  These sessions are an opportunity to discuss and work through anything that may still be affecting you emotionally, or to explore issues, feelings or memories that may have come up for you.  As well as integrating any positive changes and experiences you may have noticed since starting your TRE practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can benefit from TRE?

Everyone! Whether you are suffering work stress, are an athlete, or are a victim of violence or a car accident.  Even if you're just someone who would like to be able to respond to stressful situations in a calmer way... TRE can help. Since this bodily mechanism is built into our natural physiology, everyone responds to TRE, so can use it to support their wellbeing.  

Scheduling an appointment is easy. Simply contact Anna via phone, email or through this website. She will be in touch for a quick chat to see if TRE can help you, and if so, she will make an appointment for you in her central Nelson office.  Anna will strive to accommodate your schedule and provide prompt appointments, however, there is usually a wait time of approximately 2-3 weeks.  Having said this, if an emergency session is required (for example, to help support recovery after a car accident or other traumatic incident), Anna will do her best to be flexible and accommodate you ASAP.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for my session?

No... As TRE is a process that only uses your own body, you don't need to do anything to prepare for your session.  Just wear something that allows movement, and that will ensure you feel comfortable lying on the ground in (skirts aren't suitable).
