About
TRE

TRE was developed by Dr David Berceli. He recognised, that our bodies tend to shake after a stressful or life-threatening situation, as do other mammals. Rather than viewing this as a negative response, he realised that it's actually our bodies trying to regulate, heal and release tension that has built up during the stressful experience.
Unfortunately, we tend to inhibit this response, as we see it as a sign that we are over-whelmed or unsafe. In doing this, we cheat ourselves out of this amazing inbuilt healing system!
TRE helps you activate this neurogenic response, and then allows the body to shake naturally, providing a way to process and release chronic patterns of bracing, deeply held tension and trauma, and "stuck" energy. As a result, your body will have increased blood flow, be more relaxed and have the ability to rewire neural pathways, promoting wellbeing and a state of balance in your body.
It also regulates the protective states in our nervous system (fight/flight/freeze), so it is helpful for people who have been struggling with symptoms of PTSD, Anxiety and Depression.
Also (and this is the best bit!), TRE is designed to be a self-help tool. So, once you've learned how to use it, you can do so independently, as needed, to continuously support and promote healing, calm and wellness.
Anna Hammond

Method
Anna Hammond is a Certified TRE Provider and a Somatic Therapist. She is a qualified Counsellor, and is registered with NZAC and ACC (Sensitive Claims). She has 10 years experience in her own Counselling Private Practice, specialising in treating trauma.
Anna is passionate about supporting people to tap into the natural, healing capacity within their own bodies. She firmly believes we have all we need to heal, within our us, and genuinely enjoys sharing peoples healing journeys.
She is caring, compassionate and accepting... working intuitively and professionally, to support her clients towards improved wellbeing, self-trust, empowerment, and greater comfort and ease in their lives.
Initially, Anna will take you through the series of seven exercises that safely activate the natural reflex of shaking or tremoring. These exercises are not strenuous, and simply stretch and fatigue certain muscle groups.
The resulting neurogenic movement releases muscular tension, calms the nervous system and encourages the body to return back to a state of balance. Usually, people will soon be able to access their tremors without needing to do some, or all of the exercises.
Once you are able to regulate the process yourself, it is something that you can do at home to maintain your wellbeing, both emotionally and physically.
If you are also struggling with psychological symptoms, you are also able to engage in therapy with Anna.
She will strive to tailor your treatment for your specific needs and experiences. Because of this, she has an eclectic approach, using traditional Talk Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Somatic Mindfulness, Internal Family Systems Technique, Hakomi, CBT and Brainspotting.
