TRE®

DSCF3531_edited.jpg

TRE® was developed by Dr. David Berceli, who observed that, just like other mammals, humans naturally shake after experiencing stress or threat. Instead of seeing this shaking as a weakness, he recognised it as the body’s built-in way of regulating, healing, and releasing tension accumulated during stressful events.

In modern life, we often suppress this natural tremor, mistaking it for a sign of being unsafe or overwhelmed. But by doing so, we miss out on an extraordinary self-healing mechanism.

TRE® gently reactivates this neurogenic tremor response, allowing the body to shake in a safe and controlled way. This process helps to release deep muscular bracing, dissolve long-held tension and trauma, and free up “stuck” energy. The benefits include improved circulation, greater relaxation, and the potential to rewire neural pathways - restoring balance and wellbeing.

It also helps regulate the nervous system’s protective states (fight, flight, or freeze), making it particularly supportive for those living with symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, or depression.

And here’s the best part - TRE® is designed as a lifelong self-help tool. Once you’ve learned the technique, you can use it anytime you need, empowering yourself to maintain healing, calm, and resilience throughout life.

Anna is more than just a Certified TRE® Provider - she’s a guide, encourager, and fellow traveller on the journey to a calmer, more connected life. Her approach blends deep knowledge of the body’s stress response with a warm, down-to-earth style that makes you feel instantly at ease.

Having experienced firsthand the power of TRE to release tension and restore balance, Anna is passionate about helping others rediscover their own natural resilience. Whether you’re seeking relief from stress, recovering from life’s challenges, or simply curious about tuning in more deeply to your body, Anna creates a safe, supportive space where you can explore at your own pace.

When she’s not working with clients, you might find her in her garden, walking by the ocean, sipping a cup of herbal tea, or twirling barefoot in her living room, letting joy lead the way.

Anna is a current member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors and is registered with ACC (for Sensitive Claims).

At the start, Anna will guide you through a series of gentle exercises designed to safely activate the body’s natural reflex of shaking or tremoring. These movements aren’t strenuous—they simply involve stretching and lightly fatiguing certain muscle groups.

This gentle, neurogenic tremor helps release muscular tension, calm the nervous system, and restore the body’s natural balance. Over time, many people find they can access their tremors without needing to complete all—or even any—of the exercises.

Once you’re able to regulate the process yourself, TRE® becomes a self-care practice you can use at home to support your emotional and physical wellbeing.

For those also experiencing psychological symptoms, Anna offers therapy alongside TRE®. She takes an eclectic and holistic approach, tailoring each session to meet your unique needs.

Her work draws on a wide range of modalities, including Somatic Mindfulness, Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems, Hakomi, CBT, Brainspotting, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and Person-Centred Counselling.
